







1972 was the year when the first lot of Ugandan Asians arrived in Canada. Until this year there were East Africans Asians who had already made Canada their home but the number was not warranting a need of forming an association.
On arrival Ugandans felt need for association for each others moral support on a new land and to set up a group to help new comers settle in this part of the world.
This has been a trend for all other migrating society to help their kind.
After few years they felt that this Association should be made for all geographic East Africa not for political East Africa. This association known as Cultural Society of East African Asians was formed.
As time went by members were getting more involved in their own affairs and as such this society has gone in hibernation from time to time.
1988/89 Subhash Paleja took over as President of C.S.E.A.A. Narendra Panchal was V.P. and Labhu Vyas as Treasurer. It is from here the association started growing after laps of nearly seven years.
In 1995, Labhu Vyas took over as President, Jayantilal Pitroda as V.P.. Pradip Shah as Treasurer and Munira Budhdeo as Secretary. With this newly elected BOARD, it was renamed to East African Canadians' Cultural Association (E.A.C.C.A). E.A.C.C.A is registered as a non-profit organization.
In 1999, Narendra Panchal was elected as President, Harkishan Desai as Vice-President, Dinu Parmar as Treasurer, and Poonam Rajput as Secretary. Labhu Vyas, Pradip Shah & Ayub Dhukai were elected as trustees of the association.
In 2002, Narendra Panchal was re-elected as the President, Dinu Parmar as Vice President, Kanchan Zala as Secretary, Parshotam Jhita as Treasurer. Labhu Vyas, Pradip Shah & Ayub Dhukai were elected as trustees of the association.
In 2009, Pradip Shah was elected as President, Dinu Parmar as Vice President, Rita Bodalia as Secretary and Devv Bhatt as Treasurer. Labhu Vyas & Ayub Dhukai were elected as trustees of the association. Narendra Panchal holds both Past President and Board of Trustee Position.
